Advanced Oxidation for Commercial Aquatic Facilities

AOP is one of the most effective ways to keep commercial pool water clean and safe. As water passes through a Synergy system, the reaction of UV light and ozone creates hydroxyl radicals that break down chloramines, organic contaminants and waterborne pathogens at a molecular level.

The result is clearer water, less pool odour, reduced eye and skin irritation and lower ongoing chemical use, with performance that still meets strict safety standards.

Why Choose Advanced Oxidation

Hydroxyl radical oxidationUV and ozone react to form hydroxyl radicals, oxidisers far stronger than chlorine, UV or ozone alone, that break contaminants down at a molecular level.
Chloramine and odour controlBreaks down chloramines, the cause of pool smell, improving water quality and indoor air quality.
Pathogen controlNeutralises chlorine-resistant pathogens such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia and E. coli.
Fewer chemicalsFresher, clearer water with lower chemical demand, less eye and skin irritation and reduced ongoing costs.

Which System Fits Your Facility?

  • Synergy EconFacilities that want low-pressure AOP in a PVC chamber, with models from 200 to 440 W.
  • Synergy PlungeHot or cold plunge pools, spas and pools below 100,000 L, or confined plant rooms that need a compact unit.
  • Synergy MPSites that need high-output oxidation from a titanium medium-pressure UV chamber and up to 3 g/hr of ozone.
  • Synergy LTSFacilities with high or increasing bather loads that plan to add capacity in stages, from 40 to 120 m³/hr.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP)?

AOP combines UV light and ozone to create hydroxyl radicals, extremely powerful oxidisers that break down harmful contaminants at a molecular level. It goes beyond what chlorine alone can do, targeting even the toughest bacteria and organic matter.

How is AOP different from UV or ozone on their own?

Compared with chlorine, UV or ozone used alone, AOP delivers fresher, clearer water with fewer chemicals. It reduces eye and skin irritation by cutting chloramines and lowers ongoing chemical costs.

Does an AOP system replace chlorine?

No. Synergy systems provide secondary disinfection. Your primary sanitiser maintains the residual in the pool, while AOP breaks down chloramines, organics and chlorine-resistant pathogens as water passes through the system.

Which Synergy system suits a plunge pool or small plant room?

Synergy Plunge. Its compact vertical design suits confined plant rooms, it can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and it is designed for hot or cold plunge pools and pools and spas below 100,000 litres.

What is the difference between Synergy Econ and Synergy MP?

Synergy Econ pairs 2 g/hr of ozone with low-pressure UV in a PVC chamber. Synergy MP pairs 3 g/hr of ozone with a titanium medium-pressure UV chamber for higher-output oxidation.

Can AOP capacity be increased later?

Yes. Synergy Plunge can take a second UV lamp at any time, doubling UV output without re-plumbing. Synergy LTS is modular, so oxidation capacity can be increased without replacing the core system.

Are Synergy systems compatible with salt or mineral pools?

Synergy systems are compatible with most commercial pool systems. The Synergy LTS reactor is compatible with salt, mineral, calcium and bromide systems.
